Kim Hunt – Preschool director

Kim Hunt was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She has always been told that when her parents moved here from San Diego, that her dad found a church before looking for a home. That church was Grace Lutheran in Rancho Cordova. She was baptized, had her first Communion, was confirmed, President of Luther League, and a Choir member, on Council and worked at their preschool for over three years, which was her first job working with children.

Kim attended American River College and received an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1985, against the advice of her father and her pastor, she started a new job in Elk Grove at Sheldon Acres Preschool. Kim was their only employee with one child, and 13 years later, Kim left as the director with 17 staff, 160 children and two centers. She attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for several years while singing in their choir.

In 1997, she moved back to Sacramento and started working in Rocklin as a director of a center. She soon became a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and joined their choir. She also worked in Rocklin for 13 years, and during that time earned a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Sacramento State University. The Lord brought her to Ascension Preschool in June 2015. At this point in her life, she feels this is where she belongs. Kim says, “What a joy and blessing it is for me to combine my passion of working with children with my faith and vocation on a daily basis as the Director of Ascension Christian Preschool.”
